RCMP Major Crimes South has arrested and charged a 38-year-old man from Camrose with the murder of Jessica Wyoma Lynn Boysis who was last seen on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 and whose body was found in a treed area behind Wetaskiwin business three days later on Friday, July 18, 2014.

Ms. Boysis, who was 20-years of age at the time of her death, was from Maskwacis, Alberta.

An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton on July 21, 2014 determined the death of Ms. Boysis was a homicide.

The police investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms. Boysis’ disappearance and death was led by investigators from the RCMP Major Crimes South (SCU South) with assistance from the Wetaskiwin Municipal RCMP Detachment as well as members of the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Section (FIS).

The case was worked continuously for over two years as investigators pieced together evidence leading them to identify a suspect in Ms. Boysis’ murder.

On Friday, October 14, 2016, John Joseph William Profeit was arrested in Camrose and charged with one count of Second Degree Murder.

He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Wetaskiwin Queen’s Bench Court on Tuesday, November 1st at 9:30 A.M.
