The Central Alberta Buccaneers will have their first practice of 2017 this weekend.

Their season doesn't start for a few months, the Buccs are looking to get an early start with an indoor practice in Red Deer.

Events Coordinator and Linebacker Todd Lewis says the practice won't be too formal, just a chance for the guys to work off the rust.

"Just a chance to run around, work on some cardio and work on some basic skills. It's a great oppurtunity for new players or intersted guys to come get a feel for the team and see what we're all about."

Lewis says anybody interested in becoming a Buccaneer and playing with the team is welcome to come out.

"We encourage absolutely everyone who may be interested to come out. Even if you're not interested in playing yourself, just come and watch and relay the information to people. Zero obligation if you do come, it's free, run around, meet some great guys and most importantly have some fun.

Lewis says they'll be practicing at the Westerner's Ag Centre, Sunday night at 8:00 pm
