The first session of the micro-credential programs at Burman University is nearing an end, and it has been a success for the students and instructors. Small business owners, employees, and students are gaining in-demand skills that benefit local businesses.

The first courses in entrepreneurship and finance have been successfully delivered to students whose feedback has been resoundingly positive. The students have commented on how much they appreciate the flexibility and structure of the courses.

“I love the flexibility of taking these courses in the evening since I am working full time,” says Racheal, a student in the business micro-credential program.

These programs have added value because they have allowed current and future employees to gain the practical skills to help local businesses thrive - all without enrolling in a full post-secondary program. Each course is 24 instructional hours spread over eight weeks. This training format creates a more affordable and time-efficient way to build the skills small businesses need.

“Learning hands-on skills they can use in the real world is what students and business owners are looking for in our economy,” says Dr. Louicius Michel, Chair and Professor of Business at Burman University.

The next session of courses will be delivered online from May - June 2023.
