Kids Can Catch Day is happening this Saturday, June 3 and it’s the perfect opportunity for kids (and their parents) to learn how to cast a line.

The event is held at the Len Thompson Pond next to the world’s biggest fishing lure in Lacombe.

“At 11:00 we have fish coming in that the kids can release into the pond and 10:00 is the start of the fishing. We have some fishing rods to help out people that need them and if they bring their own, that's great too,” said Bernie Street, Fishing Chairperson for Lacombe Fish and Game.

Professionals will be on hand to help out any kids who may be new to fishing including their parents.

“We have a lot where it's a first-time fisherman and we're more than happy to get them going,” added Street.

A hot dog lunch starting at noon and they will also be unveiling the brand new wheelchair accessible fishing dock. Street says he believes there are only two wheelchair accessible docks in Alberta.

The event will be running from 10AM-2PM at Len Thompson Pond.
