A vibrant and growing business community was recognized and celebrated in Blackfalds last night at the annual Business Awards presented by the Blackfalds Chamber and Town of Blackfalds.

When it came to the Service Business of the Year, there was a three way tie with Microtel Inn & Suites, Blackfalds Boston Pizza and Blackfalds Gas ‘n Wash all taking home the award.

Gas ‘n Wash Manager Ryan Jeske says they’ve been in business for 14 years in Blackfalds, and their employees play a big role in their success “they’re the most important part of any business, especially a front line one like mine when you are dealing with multiple customers daily, they are a great front line to have and they always do it with a smile on their face”.

BP’s Franchisee Richard Carramusa says Blackfalds is a great place to do business “one of the reasons we came to Blackfalds we knew it was a very business friendly community, you know being the only restaurant that was a winner is certainly a feather in the cap that we are proud of.  I have lived in this community for a number of years, grew up in Ponoka actually, and it’s great to be here, we really enjoy being in the Blackfalds community, so many businesses here have so much to offer our community and that’s why we love doing business here”.

Retail Business of the Year honours went to The Floral Boutique, while the Blackfalds Bottle Depot earned the Community Spirit Award.
