On May 15, 2023, Red Deer RCMP arrested a male for arson in relation to the structure fire that caused significant damage to the Canadian Tire north store.
On May 15, 2023, Red Deer RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS) arrested 43-year old Scott Sumyk of Red Deer.
Sumyk was charged with Arson, and Theft under $5,000.
He was taken before a justice of the peace and was remanded for his next court appearance set for May 30, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
