For the fifth day in a row, fire departments have been dealing with grassfires all across Central Alberta.

Friday afternoon just before 2:00 pm Bentley Fire Department was called to a fire at the intersection of Highway 20 and Aspelund Road just between Sylvan Lake and Bentley.

Although it was a smaller fire, with the winds this afternoon, it could have turned into something much worse.

The cause has not been determined, but a thrown out cigarette butt has been called the likely start of the fire.

All Central Alberta fire departments have asked that you be careful when disposing of cigarette butts or lighting a fire of any kind at this time of the year.
