It was another busy weekend for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens soccer teams. Here’s a look at how the weekend played out.  

On Friday, October 7, the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens soundly defeated the Ambrose University Lions 16-0 on the road. Sein Furuyama, the ACAC Women’s Soccer scoring leader, scored six times, increasing her season goal production to 25. Estel Quinteros contributed four goals. Both Alisha Coules and Paige Kalbfleisch struck twice. Lacombe’s Jenica Swartz and Saskatoon’s Lexi Kowalchuk added singles. Queens goalkeeper Danyelle Bouvier, a Bachelor of Science Nursing student, recorded the shutout. 

The second place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (3-1-3) downed the sixth seed Ambrose University Lions (0-6-1) by a margin of 4-1 in Calgary. Red Deer’s Grant Johnson scored a natural hat trick and Ajdin Sarcevic added the Kings’ fourth goal in the 69th minute 

On Saturday, October 8, The first place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (8-1-0) shutout the fifth place University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (3-5-0) by a score of 7-0. Both Grace Smith and Swartz scored two goals. Coules, Kalbfleisch and Erica Navarro added markers. RDP Queens goalkeeper Abby Kotyk make four saves for the shutout.
