The Lending Cupboard is inviting Central Albertans for a day of celebration and empowerment during the 13th annual Ladies’ Luncheon on Thursday.

Event attendees will enjoy a four-course meal, participate in raffle and door prizes, and view a fashion show by Side Street Fashion and Great Stride Fine Shoes.

“We are so excited to see so many women join us and to celebrate the collective power that we all bring together to support our community,” Lori Shatto, Executive Director of The Lending Cupboard said. “The day is about women coming together to empower each other, to support each other, and to support our community.”

Not only will The Ladies’ Luncheon bring the community together, but it will also raise funds to support The Lending Cupboard’s mission of providing medical equipment, including wheelchairs, and crutches to Central Albertans, enhancing quality of life, supporting mobility, independence and dignity.

“It's our community that comes together to have fun at these events and support our community. They raise dollars to purchase equipment or to make sure that we have a space to provide services,” Shatto said. “They're all vital components to making sure that we can do what we need to do to make sure that folks in our community can access medical equipment at no charge.”

Over the years, the event has turned into a tradition for many women in Central Alberta. This year’s theme is “The Power of Many,” focusing on how many hands and hearts can continue to move The Lending Cupboard towards its mission of supporting the community.

Shatto explained that because the event is so close to Mother’s Day, typically multiple generations of women attend the event together, supporting each other.

“I'm just so overwhelmed with the gratitude that the community continues to show The Lending Cupboard,” she said. “I'm really excited to gather in that room and just feel the energy that all these women are going to bring and the energy that they bring to their community each and every day.”

“I'm always so thankful and so honoured that I get to work with an incredible team at The Lending Cupboard, but also work with an incredible community who continues to see the value and the impact that we're having,” Shatto said. “They truly are like family, our volunteers, our staff, and our community is amazing.”

The Ladies’ Luncheon is on May 9 at the Westerner Park Prairie Pavilion from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
