It was almost a perfect home opener for The Sylvan Lake Gulls last night at Pogadl Park.

The weather was great, there was a record sold out crowd of over 16-hundred fans, CCMA and Juno award winning singer Aaron Prichett was on hand, and the newly renovated Gulls stadium was ready for WCBL action.

The only hiccup for the night...the actual baseball game.

The Sylvan Lake Gulls with just two hits over 9 innings fell 8-0 to The Okotoks Dawgs. Tu Boudreau, who pitched 5.2 innings gave up 4 earned runs on 6 hits with 3 strikeouts. The only hits in the game, came from Chase Rodriquez and Ethan He.

The fans were happy to have baseball back. Myles Lawson from Sylvan Lake took his whole family to the game and they loved it. "It was so much fun to have the season start again. The kids love the kid's zone, the baseball is great and it's one of my favourite sports stadiums to watch a game at. It's hard to believe we have all of this in Sylvan."

After the game, Canadian country singer Aaron Prichett, who sang the National Anthems, treated the fans to a concert after the game.

Next up for the Gulls, The Edmonton Prospects tonight at Gulls Stadium. Game time is 7:05, but this is considered an Edmonton home game as they continue to build their new stadium.
