Team Alberta is currently sitting in third place for the 2022 Canada Summer games with 63 medals in total as of 9PM EST. The province is sitting behind Team British Columbia that has 66 medals in total. So far, Alberta has earned a total of 23 gold medals, 17 silver, and 23 bronze medals. 

Our women’s basketball team hit the court against Team Saskatchewan. Team Alberta set in the heat in the last 10 minutes of the game versus Team Saskatchewan setting a final and winning score of 71-60.

After defeating the powerful team Quebec yesterday. The men’s basketball team ran out of gas after a grueling game towards the bronze medal. Team Alberta finishes 4th tonight after losing 90-83 to Team Nova Scotia. 

The Alberta Tennis squad had one of the most difficult runs toward the bronze medal game today. After falling short to Team Ontario in the finals they left the game with a defeating score of 1-5.

There are a couple of local players on the men’s baseball team including Nathan Flewelling (Innisfail), Gavin Galenza (Sylvan Lake), Jaxon Zanolli (Olds), and Matthew Murray (Red Deer).  They were up against Team Ontario for gold who started off strong and didn’t slow down for Team Alberta to catch up. Despite Team Alberta’s solid attempts to come back and stay in the game, Ontario took over with a score of 11-1. Alberta settled for Silver after a challenging ending performance at these Canada Games.

Sports taking place next week starting on Tuesday, August 16th include Athletics, Men’s Box Lacrosse, Canoe-Kayak, Road Cycling, Diving, Golf, Rowing, Sailing, Women’s Soccer, Men’s Softball, Volleyball – Indoor.
