After being closed to the public for nearly two months, the Alberta RCMP detachments are reopening their front counter service, with some limitations in place in order to comply with the current health standards related to COVID-19.

Services will be gradually introduced in a phased-in approach, and they will carefully monitor and enforce health recommendations in order to safely progress to the next phase of reopening.

Starting Thursday, July 9th, front-counter services will resume after being limited since the end of March. The process might vary from detachment to detachment based on guidelines from their local government, but all detachments will follow the public health recommendations put forth by Alberta Health Services.

Control measures to protect everyone's health and safety include:

  • Detachments will accommodate a limited number of clients in their respective lobbies.
  • Employees will be physically distancing and disinfecting surfaces regularly following Alberta Health and Health Canada guidelines.
  • Detachments will accommodate a limited number of clients in their respective lobbies.

Citizens are still asked to only come into a detachment if absolutely necessary for priority services that cannot be done over the phone. These priority services include taking complaints, criminal record checks, and collision reports.

Please contact your local detachment for more information.
