E. Coli Traced Back to Alberta Meat Shop

A Hutterite Colony meat shop has been identified as the source of 36 confirmed cases of E. coli in the Edmonton zone.

The E. coli is linked to pork products sold and distributed by The Meat Shop at Pine Haven south of Wetaskiwin, AB.

Eleven patients have needed hospital care and one has likely died due to infection with E. coli.

Conservatives are Demanding Action on Bill C-49

Conservative Associate Ag Critic, John Barlow is calling on Canada's Ag Minister to show some leadership in passing Bill C-49.

Barlow says, for an amended Bill coming from the Senate, Bill C-49 has been abnormally stagnant in the House of Commons.

Barlow along with his Associate Ag Critic, Luc Berthold, sent Minister MacAulay an open letter outlining his responsibility to Canadian farmers earlier this week on April 25.

 

Inside North America's Largest Cricket Farm

North America's largest cricket farm based out of Ontario is causing quite a buzz.

The president of Entomo Farms says, they renovate chicken barns with thousands of cardboard dividers for the crickets to burrow in.

The crickets are harvested at the end of their six week life cycle.

Goldin says, the cricket feces is also a fantastic fertilizer for crops.
