There was plenty of innovation on display again this year at Agri-Trade at Westerner Park last week.

Each year exhibitors are invited to enter their newest ideas and advancements in agriculture, and this year FenceFast Ltd. won first place with the world's first cordless fencing stapler.

Vice President of Accounts and Marketing Leanne Smith said along with winning they were able to pick a charity for Agri-Trade to make a donation towards.

“This year we chose Canadian Farmers with Disabilities Registry, which is a national group of farmers helping and supporting injured or disabled farmers. They match anyone who has a disability with someone who has the existing disability to help them get back on their feet. We’re very excited and honoured to support them.”

Second place went to Raczynski Sales for the Tire Jogger, something owner Randy Raczynski said enhances farmer safety.

“It’s a farm tire attachment for a skid steer, mainly designed for the Ag industry, for high clearance sprayer tires. The fellow who did invent it in the United States, it came about by seeing people that he knows of involved in accidents. One got crushed by a tire and passed away and another guy can’t walk anymore. It’s basically a safety enhancement.”

Third place went to Michelin North America for their Cargo X Bib High Flotation tire which offers farmers a larger footprint and is efficient both on the road and in the field, helping to preserve crop yields and lower fuel consumption.

Customer Engineering Support at Michelin North America Inc., Mike Pantaleo stands with the Cargo X Bib High Flotation 750/60R30.5 tire, which offers a larger footprint of up to 17% at 2 bars and up to a 37% at 4 bars.
