Deborah Brown is one of Alberta’s newest millionaires after matching all seven numbers for one of the Maxmillions prizes awarded for the March 29 Lotto Max draw.

After checking her tickets using the self-checker at a local store a few days after the draw, Brown discovered that she was holding onto a $1 million winning ticket! She scanned the ticket five times before the reality of her windfall sunk in.

“When I got back to my car, my daughter called me and said I sounded funny. I told her, ‘I just won a million dollars!’” Brown recalled as she claimed her prize.

The newly-minted millionaire has some plans for her windfall.

“I’d like to help out my daughter and buy a new vehicle for myself for the first time,” Brown said.

The recent retiree also looks forward to using her winnings to make more out of her retirement and travel. She purchased her winning ticket  in Stettler on the day of the draw.
