The Foothills Forage and Grazing Association is hosting a Stockmanship School with Dylan Biggs. The clinic will be held at the Champion Community Hall on August 9, 2017.

The day will cover topics in cattle handling including getting control of direction and speed, dealing with obstacles, and positioning and human impulse.

Rachel McLean, Environmental and Communications Coordinator with the Association, says Dylan Biggs is well known for his expertise in livestock handling.

"He talks about people becoming aware of their counterproductive, instinctive human behaviours, and how you can can counteract these behaviours to learn a new set of cattle handling skills that will help you get the job done in a calm, controlled, and safe manner."

She adds jokingly, low stress handling is something that can save time, prevent weight loss and stress on the animals, and stress on marriages.

There will only be two hours of classroom training, so most of the schooling will take place outside handling the cattle.

The event is sponsored by Vulcan County and supported by Alberta Farm Animal Care.
