A local hobby farmer says driving a horse is the best feeling you will ever experience as he gets set to plow some land, and a plant a crop using his draft horses this weekend.

It's the 4th year in a row now that Brett Fulford and Cam Anderson of 24-2 Draft Horses are inviting area residents to come see them out in the field west of Nova's Joffre plant.

Fulford says he travelled to a lot of auctions to find the parts needed to restore the equipment they'll be using from the early 1900's to work their 15 acres.

“We’re going to start with plowing, then we’re going to use some discs, some 7 and 8 foot discs and then we’re going to harrow it and then we’re going to get the 4 horse, 10 foot Van Brunt seed drill and we’ll seed it”.
Fulford says this fall they will also bind and thrash the old fashioned way to harvest the crop.

They are planting two row barley for malt, which Old Prairie Sentinel Distillery in Lacombe will then be utilizing in their spirits.

Spectators are welcome.

They’ll be hard at work both Saturday and Sunday west of Nova’s Joffre Plant between 10:30 and 4pm.

Take Freedom Road west to Twp 384, then turn north on 26-2, event is on Right side of road.
