In celebration of Canadian Agriculture Day, 150 millennials grabbed a seat together at the Willow Lane Barn east of Olds last night (Feb 16th) to enjoy and celebrate all Alberta has to offer at the "Meet in the Middle" event.

The “A Seat at our Table” concept is to bring farmers and consumers together to have a conversation about food.

The event featured a 5 course meal prepared by local chefs, paired with craft beverages from local breweries and distilleries.

Lacombe was represented well, with Rieley Kay, owner of Cilantro and Chive serving up AAA Alberta Beef and Scholing's mashed potatoes, paired with a porter from Lacombe's Blindman Brewing.

There was plenty of fact sharing as well to show just how much Alberta brings to the table in the agriculture industry.

Our province has the largest percentage of family members living on the farm in Canada and Alberta has the most farmers under the age of 35 in Western Canada.

Alberta produces 39 per cent of Canadian beef; 4 thousand feedlots make Alberta the 5th largest cattle feeder in North America and 12 billion bottles of beer are made from Alberta malt barley annually.

22 event partners in the agriculture and food sector were behind “A Seat at our Table”, which has grown since the inaugural event in 2015 with long table dinners being held throughout the province.
