Safety on the farm, and personal health were the focus points at today's Spring Tune Up event, put on by Lacombe County.

Ainslie White, Health and Safety Advisor with AgSmart says one of the best ways to keep yourself safe on the farm, is to make sure you're well rested.

White says a quick 20 minute nap can make a world of difference.

"No more than 20 minutes, no less. That's the ideal amount for your body to get the rest it needs, and you won't wake up feeling more tired. But if you don't take those little mini-breaks, your body will end up doing it for you."

White says it's also vital to have an emergency plan in place that everyone working on the farm has gone over

More than a dozen different health care and safety professionals were on hand, to talk to about personal health, and safety.

Cheryl Markovich with Building Bridges to Health Naturally says a very important, but easily forgotten about aspect of your health is taking care of your mind.

"Chronic stress damages your health and body. So under chronic stress and no breaks, we don't digest our food properly and it stays in the body as toxic waste. Which is one of the 4 causes of disease."
