Cereals Canada President Cam Dahl can't understand why some organizations don't like modern agriculture.

He says his personal hero, Dr. Norman Borlaug, led the green revolution and lifted millions of people out of poverty and provided food for millions more.

Dahl notes modern agriculture is directly responsible for many of the luxuries we enjoy today.

"Agriculture is a choice for people and it's a productive business that allows farmers across the world to feed their families and send their kids to university and have vacations and have a productive economic life that wasn't available before the green revolution," he said.

Dahl adds that while the green revolution and the many innovations that followed are the product of science, we can't rely on scientific arguments to counter those who want to shut down modern practices.

Instead, farmers need to talk to consumers in their day-to-day lives and tell them what agriculture has delivered.
