The 15th annual Entrepreneurial Agriculture Tour took place in Red Deer County, August 2, 2017.

The tour highlighted new innovation, and made a stop at Mark and Diane Kaun's, which is located just South of Red Deer.

They use an Alberta based company, called Decisive Farming, on their operation which Remi Schmaltz, CEO of Decisive Farming, says has helped them produce consistent high quality malt barley crops.

"They're using our variable rate technology, where we're optimizing soil analysis and satellite imagery of the field to be able to optimize the placement of fertilizer and seed within the field. In this case, it's been a key piece for consistently producing malt barley."

Decisive Farming has three components; precision agronomy, software and apps to collect data, and crop marketing and risk management tools.

This is Mark Kaun's fourth year using Decisive Farming.
