The younger generation of agriculture recently met up in Calgary.

Alberta Young Farmers and Ranchers hosted their 'Rock the Farm' Conference at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino on Friday, November 23 to Sunday, November 25.

Alberta Young Farmers and Ranchers Board Member, Lacey McCrae, says they saw a smaller crowd because of other conflicting agriculture events, but it had some advantages.

"Because it was a smaller group with 20 of us, or so, it was really cozy and a neat learning environment. We got great opportunities to really pick the brains of the speakers and get to know them on a personal level."

McCrae says, one of the biggest challenges young producers face is networking, which is something they made sure to include in their conference schedule.

"A mentor of mine always said, your network is your net worth. If you can talk to somebody who's maybe done it before, or maybe done something similar, then bounce ideas back and forth, it can be really advantageous."

McCrae says, they're looking for a new location and time for next year's Rock the Farm Conference.
