It may not be the long-term forecast ranchers calving their cows in the Foothills have been hoping for.
Although the forecast calls for a high of minus 2 on Wednesday, Environment Canada Meteorologist, Kyle Fougere, says we're going to be in the deep freeze for a few more weeks yet.
"There's not much of an end in sight. Looks like the first couple weeks of March are going to stay well below normal. And hopefully we'll start trending back up towards normal temperatures by about mid-March."
Fougere says they're not seeing any Chinooks on the horizon, with their seasonal forecast calling for cold weather into late March and even early April.
He says it's not uncommon for it to be cold right now.
He says February tends to be our second coldest month of the year.
