Lacombe was well represented in the Junior Womans Curling Provincial Championships.

Once teammates, Chantele Broderson and Julie Selvais met last weekend in the Junior Womans Provincial finals

Broderson and her team won the match 8-5, with the game coming down to the last rock.

Broderson says it was tough because one of them had to lose, but she's happy they both made it to the finals.

"We grew up together throughout the curling world. We went to the Alberta Winter Games together on the same team, so I've known her for a long time."

Broderson who plays third, has been curling for over a decade and says they're now focused on the Junior Championships in Victoria next weekend.

"It's a pretty quick turnaround. We leave on the 19th. From there we'll just see what we can do and hopefully make the playoffs. There's a lot of really tough teams there for sure, but I think we have a good chance of being serious contenders."

Broderson says she was inspired to curl by her parents, both sets of grandparents, and Kelsey Rocque, a two-time World Junior Champion.

Broderson says she remembers going and watching Rocque win, and when asked if she thinks much about inspiring other little girls with her performance, she humbly brushed it aside.

"It's pretty special I guess, but I don't really think about that yet. I've always thought about playing at this level as possibility, but I can say what's happening now is a dream come true."

If she and her Team Alberta teammates win, they'll then head to South Korea to represent Canada at the World Championships.
